Individual Groups

SUMMARY

Most of the people have different reactions when there is a disaster or danger, when they are individuals or in a group. According to the author Carol Tavris people that is in a group become lazier, they don't react fast because they think the someone else can do it, but if the person is alone become more responsible and try to find a way to fix the problem. In my opinion people react faster when they are in a group, because they see more people that can start helping to prevent that something bad happen.

When people in my country in Colombia are in groups it seems that they help more or they react faster, when there is a disaster or a danger. My mother and i  had a experience when we were living there, we went to a dangerous neighborhood which we did not know that it was so dangerous. I was with my Ippod in my hand and there was a guy following us and he was getting close to us to rob us, but at the same time a group of five people from across the street came to us like if they knew us, so the guy that was trying to rob us went away and thank God nothing bad happen. One person from the group explain us that it was very dangerous to walk around there, with out a person that they know. This maybe happen because the people that they were in group they knew each other so they decided to help us. If is a group of people that they don't know each other they can act different because there is no one to give instructions on how are they going to help.

With my experience i think that when there is more people around we should react faster because there is a lot of people that is able to help and we will prevent bad things to happen. In this case my mother and i did not get hurt thanks to this five people because they came to u to defend us.

In conclusion people have there own way to act when they are alone or they are with other people around. This is because they have they nature of individual or they nature of groups. When they are in groups people become lazier because they think that others can help, but when the people is alone they try to do anything they can as faster as they can to help.

  1. Hi Cindy, I'm Elba from an ENG220 class and I'm writing to you to try and help both of us. The class I'm taking has offered us an opportunity to leave some feedback on the blogs of students who are at the start of their college careers as we approach the end of ours at La Guardia. Thank you for helping me by letting me read your blog and hopefully I can return the favor with some constructive criticism.
I enjoyed the addition of the personal experience in Columbia. It makes your writing your own and unique. I liked your introductory paragraph because you summarize briefly and then let me know where you stand. The last sentence of your conclusion confused me a little. Your restating the authors views but her views are contradicting your views. This could be remedied by comparing the two and clearly stating which views belongs to you and which belong to the author. Overall, I enjoyed reading your summary. Thank you again.

  3. Hi Cindy, my name is Naquitta from ENG 220 I have been given the opportunity to provide feedback on your blog. I enjoyed how you began your essay stating how one would act individually as opposed to how many would react when placed in groups. You brought in support of the author which I felt was finely executed perhaps, you may want elaborate more on how you felt when you were in that unfamiliar place to help strengthen your essay. Don't be afraid to let the reader now how you felt and and the things that went through your mind at the time you were there. You can even talk about the facial expression on your mothers face if any to help strengthen your essay as well. I appreciated reading your summary and learning about the dangers of your country. Thank you once again.
